Whitstable Town Junior Football Club (WTJFC) – Football Association Charter Standard Development Club of the year 2017 – is Whitstable’s oldest youth football club having been running for over 20 years. The club offers opportunities to girls and boys under the age of 18 to train and play football matches in a friendly atmosphere under the guidance of qualified coaches. It has teams in the Faversham and District Youth Football League as well as the East Kent Youth Football League and Kent League.
WTJFC is delighted to have developed links with the senior club with the aim for greater integration, bringing the juniors and the seniors closer together. All junior players can now attend home matches for free when accompanied by an adult. Ultimately we want to see the development of coaches and players so that the juniors of today become the first team players of the future. A strong youth set-up can only benefit the two adult teams at the Belmont and will give the gifted youngsters something to strive for.
During the winter months (end September to March) training is on Wednesdays at The Whitstable School from 5.00pm – 7.30pm. When the evenings are lighter training is at Radfall Rec.
The WTJFC committee is led by Steve Clayton (Chair and assistant Welfare Officer), Rob Cleary (Vice Chair), Fran Milnes (Secretary), and Mike Couzens (Treasurer, Charter Standard Officer and coach). Other committee members are Natalie Loveridge and Ben Jennings (joint Fixtures Secretaries), Sarah Griffiths (Registrations Secretary and Welfare Officer), Josh Algar (Youth Development Officer) and Julie Harrison and Mark Cooke (joint Publicity Officer).
As a fairly new committee we are looking to develop a social sub-committee to further improve the family feel of the club.
